Sun 'N' Sand® Product Guide
How to Determine Your Hat Size
To find your perfect fit, measure the circumference of your head about 1/4" above your ears. For best results, measure exactly where the hat will sit.
Note on Adjustability: 95% of our collection features internal adjusters to ensure a custom fit. Our Women's styles primarily utilize an Elastic Size Adjuster, while our Men's styles typically feature a Hook & Loop Adjuster.

Hat Care & Maintenance
Straw & Paper Braid Hats
-
Spot Clean Only: Use a clean, damp white cloth with a tiny drop of mild dish soap. Gently wipe in a circular motion following the weave of the straw.
-
Reshaping: If your hat gets crushed, you can use a clothes steamer to gently soften the fibers and reshape it by hand. Allow it to dry completely before wearing.
-
Storage: Always store your hat upside down on its crown or on a hat stand to preserve the brim’s shape.
-
Avoid: Never leave your hat in a hot car or in direct sunlight for extended periods, as natural fibers can become brittle and lose their shape. Do not submerge in water.
Fabric & Baseball Caps
-
Hand Wash: Submerge the hat in cool water with a mild detergent. Use a soft brush for stubborn stains.
-
Rinse & Dry: Rinse thoroughly in cool water. Do not wring or twist. Shape the hat and lay it on a clean towel to air dry away from direct heat or sun.
Canvas Bags & Totes
-
Cleaning: Most canvas bags can be spot cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap.
-
Drying: Always air dry. Putting themed or embellished bags in a dryer can damage custom hardware or cause shrinkage.
The Gold Standard: UPF 50+ Protection
While our styles evolve, our commitment to your sun safety is constant. Most Sun 'N' Sand® headwear features a certified UPF 50+ rating, which is laboratory-verified to block 98% of harmful UVA and UVB radiation.
What does a UPF 50+ rating mean? A rating of UPF 50+ means that the fabric allows only 1/50th of the UV radiation falling on the surface of the hat to penetrate. Our high-density fabrics are independently tested by third-party laboratories to ensure a tighter, premium weave that protects your skin.
UPF vs. SPF: Understanding the Difference It is a common misconception that SPF applies to clothing. While they both measure sun safety, they are used differently:
-
UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor): Measures the effectiveness of protective fabrics.
-
SPF (Sun Protection Factor): Measures the effectiveness of sunscreens.
Wearing a UPF 50+ rated hat is more than a style choice—it is a smart, healthy habit for long-term skin protection.
